Queens settle for silver in ProctorFeb. 8 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo bantam A Queens had to settle for the silver medal at the Golden Spike hockey tournament in Proctor, Minn., falling 1-0 to Hayward in the championship game.
Thunder Bay out shot their opponents 27-15 in the contest, but could not put one past the Hayward netminder.
Alannah Dzijacky and Jayde Turcotte split the goaltending duties for the Queens in the final.
The next tournament action for the Air Bravo Queens will be March 26-28 when the club travels to Winnipeg to compete in the Stars Cup.
Air Bravo Queens off to finalFeb. 7 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo bantam A Queens are off to the final of the Golden Spike hockey tournament taking place in Proctor, Minn.
The club began the tourney Friday battling to a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Bemidji, Minn.
After falling behind in the second period Taylor Basaraba would knot the score in the final frame to secure the tie for Thunder Bay.
Game two of the event for the Queens saw them in another tightly contested affair with the club pulling out a 2-1 victory over Hastings, Minn.
Basaraba put her side out in front at 2:58 of the second stanza only to see Hastings pull even seven minutes later.
The score stayed that way until just past the nine-minute mark of the third period when Emily Armstrong buried the game-winner.
That triumph helped the Queens advance to the title game of the tournament, which is set for 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Queens advance to consolation finalJan. 16 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo bantam A Queens are moving on to the consolation final of the St. Luke's Icebreaker Invitational tournament in Duluth, Minn.
Thunder Bay punched their ticket to that game Saturday by virtue of a 3-0 shutout over Stillwater, Minn.
Following a scoreless first period the Queens got goals from Sabrina Aiello and Emily Armstrong in the middle frame to take a two-goal lead heading to the second intermission.
Kelsey Warren provided some insurance at 10:56 of the third period to round out the scoring.
Sharing the shutout in the Thunder Bay net were Alannah Dizjacky and Jayde Turcotte.
The club now moves on to that consolation contest Sunday at 12 p.m. against Minnetonka, Minn.
Queens fall in Icebreaker openerJan. 15 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo bantam A Queens came up on the short end of a 3-0 result Friday in opening day action at the St. Luke's Icebreaker Invitational tournament in Duluth, Minn., falling to a team from Moorhead, Minn.
The club will look to get on track Saturday morning in their next game, which goes at 9:15 a.m. vs. Stillwater, Minn.
Queens edged in Showcase finalDec. 14 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo Queens suffered a tough 1-0 defeat to the Taranis Contracting peewee Queens on a late power play goal in the championship game of the bantam A divsion of the organization's Showcase Weekend staged over the weekend at Fort William First Nation Arena.
They opened the event with a solid 2-0 win over the Nipigon Selects.
Suzanne Tempelman notched the game-winner for the Queens six minutes into the game while Amanda Cain added some insurance with a minute and half to go in the contest.The club's second contest saw Shelby Rea score with just over a minute to play to give Fort Frances a narrow 3-2 triumph over the squad.
Emily Armstrong, her team's game MVP winner, gave Thunder Bay and an early lead in that one with the only marker of the opening stanza while Shilo Beck tied it for the Fort marking the middle frame's only tally.
The final period saw Beck, who garnered match MVP laurels for her side, gave Fort Frances their first lead with eight minutes remaining, but Serena Daniels tied it a few minutes later setting the stage for Rea's late-game heroics.
Calie Clendenning was the winning goaltender while Jayde Turcotte suffered the setback.
In the team's final round robin contest the Queens Thunder Bay got goals from Daniels, Sabrina Aiello, and Taylor Basaraba as they bumped off Dryden 3-1.
Moving on the the title game the affair appeared to be head for overtime only to see the peewees strike in the final minute with a power play tally to give the crown.
Queens Superior in Wisconsin
Dec. 6 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo Bantam A Queens have returned home from the Colder By The Lake Tournament in Superior Wis., with the championship trophy in tow following a 3-0 victory over ACYHA-Orono in the title game.
Kelsey Warren's second period tally proved to be the game-winner in the triumph over their opponents from Plymouth, Minn.
Ashley Arno and Sabrina Aiello supplied third period markers for Thunder Bay in the win while Jayde Turcotte and Alannah Dzijacky combined for 15 saves in the shutout.
The team returns to game action Dec. 11-13 when they part part in the annual Thunder Bay Queens Showcase Weekend at Fort William First Nation Arena.
Air Bravo Queens to play in finalDec. 5 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo Bantam A Queens are off to the championship game of the Colder By The Lake Tournament in Superior Wis., rolling into the final by virtue of a 10-1 triumph over the Minneapolis Storm.
Emily Armstong, Serina Daniels and Ashley Arno all tallied twice in the win while single markers went to Kara Scavarelli, Veronica Pellerin, Sabrina Aiello and Kassidy Almgren.
They will now play in the title contest at 4:30 p.m. CT on Sunday at the Superior Ice Arena vs. a yet to be determined opponent.
Air Bravo Queens victorious in tournament openerDec. 4 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo Bantam A Queens were victorious in opening day action at the Colder By The Lake Tournament in Superior Wis., skating past Litchfield, Minn., 3-2 in a hard fought battle.
Sabrina Aiello put Thunder Bay up with 4:31 to go into the opening period to open the scoring while Litchfield would knot the score with 1:25 left in the opening frame.
The Queens' Suzanne Tempelman would put her side up again in the second period only to see Litchfield knot the score again with just six seconds to go in the middle stanza.
Thunder Bay would get the game-winner from Olivia Shaw early in the third period and the club's defence stood tall the rest the of the way.
The Queens next game in the tourney goes Saturday at 4:30 p.m. CT when they take on the Minneapolis Storm.
Air Bravo Queens gear up for tournamentNov. 30 -- The Thunder Bay Air Bravo Bantam A Queens are gearing up to take part in the Colder by the Lake under-14 tournament in Superior, Wis., Dec. 4-6.
The Queens open up play Friday when they take on Litchfield, Minn., at 5:15 p.m. CT.
Game two of the event for Thunder Bay goes Saturday at 4:30 p.m. CT against the Minneapolis Storm.
The club will then wrap-up play in the 10-team tourney against a yet to be named opponent on Sunday.
Queens fall in IBC semifinalNov. 8 -- A third period goal proved to be the only one of the game as the Thunder Bay Air Bravo Bantam A Queens fell 1-0 to Keweenaw, Mich., in semifinal action at the Ice Breaker Cup tournament in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
With the game scoreless in the final frame a Keweenaw point shot eluded the Thunder Bay goaltender for the only marker that would be scored in the contest.
The next tournament for the Air Bravo Queens will be the Colder by the Lake event in Superior, Wis., which runs Dec. 4-6.
The following week the club will be competing in the annual Queens Showcase Weekend Dec. 11-13 at Fort William First Nation Arena.

In their first game Saturday they received two goals from Suzanne Tempelman and another from Kassidy Almgren as they skated to a 3-2 triumph over the Marathon Ice Rats.
Completing round-robin play the Queens took on Keweenaw, Mich., and despite a solid 37-save performance from Jayde Turcotte Thunder Bay fell 1-0 after being outshot 38-10.
The Queens will have an opportunity to exact some revenge on Keweenaw Sunday morning when they meet them again at 7:30 a.m. in semifinal play.
The winner of that contest will move on to the championship game at 1 p.m.

In their first game of the tourney they rode the shutout goaltending of Allanah Dzijacky to shutout the Hearst Pink Ladies 5-0.
Kelsey Warren tallied twice in the victory while the additional Thunder Bay goals were provided by Taylor Basaraba, Sabrina Aiello and Veronica Pellerin.Game two of the day saw the Queens drop a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Traverse City, Mich.
Warren had the lone goal for her side while Jayde Turcotte supplied a strong performance in a losing cause.Round robin action for the Air Bravo Queens concludes Saturday with two games on tap.
