Taranis Queens capture third place trophy via shootoutDec. 11 -- Paige Sullivan's goal in the shootout was the difference as the Taranis Contracting Queens earned the bronze medal at the Queens Showcase against a tenacious Dryden squad that rallied late to force extra shooters.
Sullivan had a tremendous game for Thunder Bay notching a hat-trick in regulation while Sara Smith supplied the other marker.
Emmy Arsenault and Rachel Getson had the first two tallies for Dryden who then struck twice in the final two minutes to force the shootout.
Elizabeth Carter fired the first one with 1:45 to go and Darra Zieroth notched the equalizer with 37 seconds remaining.
Getson would add the lone Dryden effort in the shootout while Jacqueline Desimone had the other for the Queens.
Callie Bevilacqua picked up the win in net for Thunder Bay and Jacquie Grandmont suffered the hard-luck shootout setback for Dryden.

1--Bantam A: Triad Queens 1 Taranis Queens 0– The Triad Contracting peewee Queens started the Showcase on a winning note defeating the Taranis Contracting bantam A Queens 1-0 in a hard-fought battle staged Tuesday evening.Following two scoreless periods, Amanda Pages would notch the eventual game-winner in the middle of the 3rd frame finishing off the work of Emily Varrin and Alyssa Cicigoi, who drew assists on the play. Aden Johnson posted the shutout for the peewees.
2--Bantam A: Hearst 2 Taranis Queens 1— Natasha Bosnick's goal with 11:05 remaining was the difference as Hearst slipped by the Taranis Queens.
Alessa Dalcourt gave the Ice Cats the lead early in second period only to see Monica Browczuk notch the equalizer with 44 seconds to go in the middle session.
3--Bantam A: Dryden 4 Taranis Queens 3— Rachel Getson's second goal of the game in the second period proved to be the game-winner as Dryden edged Thunder Bay in bantam A action.
Getson opened the scoring for Dryden while Jenna Langlais and Emma Arsenault added the others.
Scoring for the Queens were Jacqueline Desimone with two and Jordyn Paris with a single.
Jackie Grandmont picked up the win between the pipes for the Sunset Granite Snipers. Renee Plummer was in net for Thunder Bay.4--Bantam A: Taranis Queens 1 Fort Frances 1— Round robin play in the bantam A division wrapped up with Fort Francis and the Taranis Contracting Queens skating to a 1-1 draw.
Sara Smith opened the scoring for Thunder Bay only to see Madisyn DeGagne notch the equalizer for the Leafs midway through the contest.
Queens' goalkeeper Callie Bevilacqua and her Fort Frances counterpart, Shanleigh Fryer, shut the door the rest of the way in what was the first tie at the Showcase.
As both clubs finished with equal records following round robin play, it was Thunder Bay that would advance to meet Dryden in the third place game Sunday, by virtue of the goals for and against tiebreaker.
