Feb. 3 -- The Ontario Power Generation midget A Queens are 1-1 after day one of the 14th annual Women’s Silver Stick tournament.
Mandy Mellerup scored a power play goal with 53 seconds remaining to lift Thunder Bay to a 3-2 triumph over the Windsor Wildcats in their opener.
Jessica Minoletti and Riley Cronk added the other tallies in the win.
Game two of the day saw the Queens drop a hard-fought 1-0 decision to the Oakville Hornets.
They will now take on the Whitby Wolves Saturday morning in their final round robin contest.
All four clubs in their division have 1-1 records with a berth to the quarterfinals Saturday evening on the line for the team that comes out on top.
