Sept. 9 -- The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens are off to a 2-0 start at the Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase tournament in Hamilton.

Their latest triumph came Friday evening as they edged the Chicago Mission 4-3.

Thunder Bay would be outshot 31-19 in the contest, but rode the stalwart goaltending of Jayde Turcotte to earn the win.

Michela Cava notched a pair of markers in the victory for the Queens while Jillian Langtry and Kaley Tienhaara fired the others. Adding assists were Brianna Iazzolino, Kaitlyn Tougas, Jessica Gazzola and Michelle Carlson.

The club rounds out round-robin play Saturday at 11:25 a.m. when they meet the Saugeen-Maitland Lightning (1-0-1). Remaining games for the Queens will be determined by the outcome of this contest.
