Sept. 11 -- A third straight shutout has sent the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens to the semifinals at the Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase tournament in Hamilton.

Thunder Bay blanked the Toronto Aeros 3-0 Sunday morning in quarterfinal play, in what was a rematch of the 2011 OWHA midget AA championship game staged in February. This follows a pair of 5-0 blankings the club had in games Saturday.

Scoring the goals in the victory were Michela Cava, Drue Ahola and Bronwyn Bolduc. Picking up assists in the win were Jessica Gazzola, Kaley Tienhaara, Jillian Langtry and Kaitlyn Tougas.

The Queens out shot Toronto 21-17 in the contest with Megan Leikkari posting the shutout.

Thunder Bay now meets Team Pittsburgh in semifinal action at 1:30 p.m.
