Queens off to Can-Am Cup in Milwaukee

The Thunder Bay Queens will be sending two teams to compete in the CAN/AM Cup tournament this weekend in Milwaukee, Wis., as both the Winning Streak Charters bantam AA and Triad Contracting peewee Queens will be taking part in the three-day event.

A total of seven sides will be vying for the title in the bantam AA division with game action for Thunder Bay opening up Saturday at 10:45 a.m. as they take on the Illinois Falcons.

Game No. 2 of the day features the Madison Capitols providing the opposition in a contest that gets underway at 7 p.m.

The WSC Queens will then wrap-up round robin play Sunday with match-ups vs. the Chicago Fury at 10:45 a.m. and the St. Louis Lady Blues at 5:30 p.m.

That will lead to the medal games on the holiday Monday with the top two clubs vying for gold and silver at 9:30 a.m. while the third and fourth place sides will skate for bronze at 11 a.m.

As for the Triad peewees, they will be joined by three other squads in their division.

They too open up play Saturday commencing with a 12:15 p.m. encounter with the host Milwaukee Jr. Admirals.

From there they will take on the Chicago Mission at 5:30 p.m.

Their lone meeting scheduled for Sunday is against St. Louis at 1 p.m.

Monday features the peewee championship game going at 8:30 a.m. with the bronze medal contest starting one half hour earlier at 8 a.m.
