Championship Sunday for the Undefeated Thunder Bay Queens Trio

THUNDER BAY – Three of the Thunder Bay Queens teams are making some noise this weekend, all going undefeated in round robin play to place first in their pools respectively.

The U18AA Mallon’s Play It Again Sports Queens finished first in their pool out of 10 teams and first overall out of 40 teams, with a 4-0 record after two days of play and will be playing for the Gold Medal tomorrow in the USA-Canada Cup in Kitchener/Waterloo.  The U18AA Queens continue to make their mark this season with victories against the Hamilton Hawks 4-0, the Sudbury Lady Wolves 2-0, the Ottawa Jr. 67’s 1-0, and the Kitchener Lady Rangers 3-1.

The U15AA Thunder Bay Queens are taking part in the annual 2Nations College Prep in Brampton, winning tonight in OT to solidify their place in the Quarter finals Sunday morning against the number one ranked team in the province, Durham West Lightning.  On the road to the quarter finals, the U15AA Queens have been tenacious, coming from behind in all 4 games to go undefeated against the Peterborough Ice Kats 3-1, the St. Catharines Brock Jr. Badgers 3-1, the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 2-1, and the Bluewater Hawks 4-3 OT win.

The U15A BFL Canada Queens went a perfect 3-0 in their first three games of the Centennial Hockey Girls Super Chill Tournament in Blaine, MN and will now take on Osseo-Maple Grove Black at 9 a.m. in Sunday’s Semi-Final.  The U15A Queens came on top in the tightly contested game Friday evening with the South West Force 1-0, and battled hard with two late goals in the third to capture the win against Alexandria 2-1.  They closed out pool play Saturday evening with a dominate win against the Centennial/SLP 11-0.
