Sportop Queens tie Pittsburgh 3-3 at Stoney Creek Showcase

STONEY CREEK, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens picked up their first point at the 10th annual Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase tournament Friday evening after skating to a 3-3 draw against the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite.

Thunder Bay got goals from Sarah Dodic, Samantha Isbell and Stefanie Hayward in the draw.

Michelle Smith dished out to assists to aid the Queens’ cause while Emilie Varrin, Paige Sullivan, Allie Fairbarn and Laura Deschamps supplied solo helpers.

Thunder Bay outshot Pittsburgh 26-21 in the contest with Fayth Chambers playing in net for the Queens.

Round robin action for the team concludes Saturday at 10:35 a.m. vs. the Leaside Wildcats.
