Queens blank Leaside at SCS Showcase

STONEY CREEK, Ont. – Paige Sullivan tallied twice while Bailey Chenier posted the shutout to help lead the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens to a 2-0 triumph over the Leaside Wildcats Saturday at the 10th annual Sabres Showcase tournament in Stoney Creek, Ont.

After a scoreless opening period Sullivan notched the eventual game-winner with a minute to go in the second stanza.

Sullivan then added some insurance with her second marker of the game late in regulation.

Samantha Isbell set-up both goals as she picked up two assists to aid the Queens offensively.

With the result Thunder Bay finished with a 1-0-1-1 record in round robin play picking up five of a possible nine points.

They earned one point apiece with a 1-0 overtime setback to London and a 3-3 tie vs. Pittsburgh Friday along with the three they earned with the victory over Leaside.

The Queens now must wait for the completion of round robin play to see if they have enough points to qualify for the playoff round at the 64-team tourney.
