Sullivan shines as Queens win 2nd straight at SCS Showcase

STONEY CREEK, Ont. – Paige Sullivan had yet another big outing to power the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens to a second victory Saturday at the 10th annual Sabres Showcase tournament in Stoney Creek, Ont.

A game after scoring twice the Queens forward tacked on two more tallies, including her second straight game-winner, and dished out an assist to help pace Thunder Bay past the Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks of Cornwall 4-1 Saturday evening.

With the win the Queens now advance to the quarter-finals Sunday at 8 a.m. vs. the West Coast Avalanche of British Columbia.

After a scoreless opening period, Sullivan struck twice in the middle frame to put her side up a pair.

The OHA pulled to within one at 9:56 of the second, but Allie Fairbarn restored the two-goal cushion late in the session.

Sarah Dodic added some insurance midway through the third to secure the decision.

Samantha Isbell doled out three assists for Thunder Bay while Fayth Chambers picked up the win in net in a game that saw the Queens outshoot the Mavericks 22-10.
