3 Queens teams in 2 tournaments
THUNDER BAY – It will be another busy weekend of hockey action for the Thunder Bay Queens as a trio of their clubs in the organization will be competing in a pair of tournaments.
The midget A Queens are heading to snow-bound Buffalo, N.Y. to compete in the inaugural Harbor Center Cup while both the Manshield Construction bantam A and Tim Hortons peewees will be in Blaine, Minn., for the All-American Girls Tourney.
Weather permitting the midget A side is scheduled to begin play at 8:30 a.m. Friday vs. the West Seneca Wings.
Game 2 of the day has the Troy Albany Ice Cats providing the opposition at 1:30 p.m.
They will then wrap-up round robin play Saturday against the Niagara Falls Rapids at 9:45 a.m.
Thunder Bay’s first two games in the bantam A division at the All-American will see them tangle with the Duluth Icebreakers Friday at 2:45 p.m. followed by an 8:30 p.m. meeting with the North East Predators of Winnipeg.
As for the peewee Queens their first contest in Blaine also goes Friday when they square off with the Chaska-Chanhassen Strom Hawks of Minnesota at 7 p.m.
Next up will a 1:30 p.m. face-off Saturday vs. the Winnetka Warriors.
Further games for each of the three Queens’ teams will be based on round robin results.
