Sportop Queens off to Winnipeg for 3-game set
THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens are off to Winnipeg this weekend for a three-game set vs. Manitoba competition.
Game No. 1 of the series for Thunder Bay goes Friday evening at 8:45 p.m. vs. the St. Mary's Academy Flames Prep team.
The Queens then tangle with the Central Plains Capitals of Portage la Prairie, Man., in a 11:10 a.m. face-off at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.
Thunder Bay will round out the trip with a second game against the SMA Flames starting at 11:45 a.m.
The powerful Flames side blanked the Queens 4-0 in their only previous meeting of the season back on Nov. 16 during the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres Jamboree event in Faribault, Minn.
The midget AA side has yet to play Central Plains this season.
