Midget A Queens off to Hayward tourney this weekend

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay midget A Queens are off to Hayward, Wis., this weekend to compete in the annual Fire on Ice tournament.

There are a total of six teams competing in the three-day event, including the Thunder Bay midget Fury, two clubs from Minnesota, the Pembina Valley Hawks of Manitoba and the host Wisconsin Tremblay’s Jawbreakers.

Game action for the Queens begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m. when they meet the East Metro Devils from Minneapolis.

They will then take on Wisconsin later in the day at 3:45 p.m.

As for the Fury, they’ll go up against Pembina Valley Saturday at 12:15 p.m. and the Minnesota Rush at 6:30 p.m.

The top two clubs in each three-team division will advance to the semifinals Sunday morning with the winners playing for the championship at 3:30 p.m.
