Goldcorp midget A Queens start 0-1-1 in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Penn. – The Thunder Bay Goldcorp midget A Queens went 0-1-1 in Day 1 play of the Pittsburgh Elite Thanksgiving Classic tournament in Pennsylvania Friday.

Thunder Bay began the tourney with a 3-0 loss to the Markham-Stouffville Stars before skating to a 0-0 draw with the Cazenovia Chiefs from Buffalo, N.Y., in their second game of the day.

Against Markham-Stouffville, the Queens were outshot 30-17 in the contest with goaltender Cameron Ivall making 27 saves in defeat.

In the goal less tie vs. Cazenovia, Taylor Gombola posted the shutout for her side making 12 saves along the way.

Thunder Bay put 21 attempts on the Chiefs net, but could not find a way to score.

The Queens return to the ice Saturday for two more round robin contests.

They’ll first take on Armstrong Arrows of Kitanning, Penn., at 9:15 a.m. before meeting the Toronto Leaside Wildcats at 1:15 p.m.
