Sportop Queens blanked in Winnipeg finale

WINNIPEG, Man. – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens wrapped up a three-game weekend in Manitoba Sunday falling 5-0 to the St. Mary’s Academy Flames.

St. Mary’s jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play and following a scoreless middle stanza the Flames put the game away by notching three more markers to conclude the scoring.

Cecilia Lopez had a pair of goals for St. Mary’s while Kayla Friesen dished out three assists.

Bailey Chenier suffered the loss in net for Thunder Bay, who dropped a 2-1 decision to the Flames on Saturday.

Among the upcoming action for the Sportop Queens will be the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association provincial championships, April 7-10, in Toronto.
