Thunder Bay blanked by Vancouver in Showcase finale

STONEY CREEK, Ont. – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens came out on the losing end of a 2-0 score Sunday to the Vancouver Comets in their final game at the 12th annual Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase in southern Ontario.

Hannah Green notched the eventual game-winner for Vancouver 9:31 into the contest while Stephanie Wallace added some insurance with a power play marker late in the third to account for the scoring.

The Queens outshot the Comets 23-20 in the contest with Josée Robinson suffering the setback in goal.

Thunder Bay finished with a 1-2-2 overall record through five games in the 64-team tourney that featured clubs from across Canada and the U.S. taking part.

The next out of town game action for the Sportop midget AA side will be Oct. 27-30 in Detroit, Mich., when they take part in the 2 Nations College Prep Series.
