Midget A Queens go 1-0-1 Saturday in Upper Midwest Elite play

BLAINE, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Topper’s Pizza midget A Queens went unbeaten Saturday in two games at the CCM Upper Midwest Elite High School Invitational in Blaine, Minn., skating to a 3-3 draw with the Minnesota Revolution before blanking the Rocky Mountain Rough Riders of Colorado 1-0.

Against Minnesota, Breanna Veneruz set-up Jocelyn Wojciechowski to put Thunder Bay up 1-0 with the only goal of the first period while the Revolution notched the lone tally of the second stanza.

In the third each side scored twice with Cassandra Carangi supplying both of the Queens’ markers in the final frame.

Cameron Ivall was in net to help her side earn their first point in UMEHS play.

Game 2 of the day saw Thunder Bay post their first victory as Anjelina Badanai posting the shutout in the narrow triumph.

It was a tightly-contested matchup vs. the Rough Rider going scoreless through two periods of play.

Then with time winding down, Caitlyn Olinski buried the game-winner with 4:24 remaining to give the Queens the win.

With a 1-1-1 record after three games Thunder Bay wraps up UMEHS play Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they meet the Colorado Selects.
