3rd straight shutout for Sportop Queens at 2 Nations College Prep Series

BRAMPTON, Ont. – Buoyed by yet another strong defensive performance, the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens posted their third consecutive shutout at the 2 Nations College Prep Series in Brampton, Ont., as they blanked the Chicago Young Americans 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

Karadyn Kiviaho supplied the only goal the Queens would need in the contest with five minutes left in the first period on the game-winner that saw Vanessa Nicholl and Zoe Hynnes picking up assists.

Thunder Bay got some insurance late in the middle stanza as Allyson Lesperance finished off the work of Briana Prete and Amanda Pages, who earned helpers on the tally.

Queens netminder Aden Johnson did the rest turning aside all 21 shots she faced to record the shutout in a game that saw the midget AA’s fire 22 attempts on the Chicago goal.

Next up for Thunder Bay will be 6:30 p.m. contest vs. the Cambridge Roadrunners.

They will then conclude competition Sunday against a yet to be determined opponent.
