Sportop Midget AA Queens take first 2 at JWHL Challenge Cup

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Thunder Bay Queens Sportop midget AA Queens have started strong at the 10th annual JWHL Challenge Cup in suburban Washington, D.C., after winning their first two games Saturday in Rockville, Maryland.

Thunder Bay began with a 4-1 triumph over the New Jersey Rockets before wrapping up the day with a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Young Americans.

In the win over New Jersey, Karadyn Kiviaho paced the Queens attack as she tallied twice and helped set-up another in the decision.

Madeline Browczuk and Vanessa Nicholl also scored in the win while Jayda MacArthur dished out a pair of assists.

Josée Robinson registered the victory in net.

Meanwhile against Chicago, the Queens got goals from Nicholl, Amanda Pages, with the game-winner, and Ellen Svane.

Nicholl also supplied a pair of helpers with Robinson picking up her second straight win between the pipes.

Next up for Thunder Bay will be a 7 a.m. match-up against the Washington Pride Sunday.

Meanwhile the Toppers Pizza midget A’s fell to 0-4 at the CAN/AM Cup in Madison, Wis., after dropping a 7-1 result to the Dallas Stars Elite in their third game of the tournament and a 2-0 defeat against Team Illinois in their fourth contest.

Jessie Page notched the lone marker for the Queens in the setback vs. Dallas.
