Sportop midget AA Queens in Winnipeg to compete in World Sports School Challenge

WINNIPEG, Man. – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens are in Winnipeg, Man., to compete in the Female World Sports School Challenge.

This Hockey Canada-sanctioned event features eight teams, including six from Canada and two from the U.S., who will be vying for the title.

Thunder Bay has a strong test in their opener Thursday as they take on a powerful Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-19 Prep School side from Faribault, Minn., at 2 p.m.

Two more tilts await the midget AA Queens Friday beginning with a 9:30 a.m. contest vs. the host St. Mary’s Academy Flames of Winnipeg.

Next up will be an 8:15 p.m. match-up against the Notre Dame Hounds of Saskatchewan later in the day.

Saturday’s quarter-final opponent will be vs. a yet to be determined opponent.

The four Saturday winners will advance to the semifinals Sunday morning, with the two remaining teams vying for the title that afternoon.
