Queens doused by Flames in World Sports School Challenge action

WINNIPEG, Man. – The St. Mary’s Academy Flames took advantage of a dozen power play opportunities to defeat the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens 5-0 Friday at the World Sports School Challenge in Winnipeg, Man.

Hailey Karbonik scored twice in the victory while K.K. Thiesen dished out four assists for the Flames, who led 1-0 after one, 2-0 through the middle stanza before putting the game away in the third with a trio of tallies.

Aden Johnson suffered the setback in net for Thunder Bay.

The Queens will wrap-up round robin play later today when they meet the Notre Dame Hounds from Saskatchewan at 8:15 p.m.

Providing the opposition as well as the start time in the club’s Saturday’s quarter-final contest has yet to be determined.
