Toppers Queens Reminded of the Preciousness of Life

MADISON, WI — On the final day of the CAN/AM Challenge Cup the Toppers Pizza Midget A Queens played Meijer, a team from Oshtemo, Michigan who were playing with heavy hearts this weekend as they lost two of their teammates, Julianna Ward-Brown and Darian Locklear, in a car accident. Meijer played inspired hockey starting off with the first four goals of the game. The Queens responded with a late period goal by Sibley Duckert to cut the lead to three. The teams traded early second period goals, Jocelyn Wojciechowski scoring for Thunder Bay, and then trade off again in the third (Cassandra Carangi with the goal) to maintain the three-goal deficit to a 6-3 loss.

Meijer dedicated the win to their late teammates. In true CAN/AM style, Meijer presented the Toppers Queens with commemorative memorial helmet decals. The Queens presented Meijer with flowers as a gesture of sympathy.
