Sportop Queens Go 1-1 on Day One of CCM NIT

BLAINE, MN — The Sportop Midget AA Queens started the CCM National Invite Tournament early Friday morning against “Team Flow”, one of the two elite teams made up of the best high school players in Minnesota. The Queens ended up dropping it 3-0 but they’d have a chance to rebound and get back on the winning track that afternoon against Team Colorado. Jada Leblanc looked like she opened up the scoring early but it was called off with a player in the crease. There’s often adjustments to be made early when playing in the US. Team Colorado instead opened the scoring but the Queens answered right back as Gaby Andreacchi notched a powerplay goal from Reese Coffey and then Brenna Nicol would put the Queens ahead, Jada Leblanc drew the assist. Team Colorado tied the game in the second. Two after two. In the third, Queens netminder Reese Keating needed to be perfect making away for Nicol to score her second of the game which was the eventual game winner as the Sportop Queens skated to a 3-2 victory.

The Midget AAs have one game tomorrow at 9:30am against PPL while the Gridlink Midget A Queens play twice: At 2:40pm versus Minnesota State Prospects-Red and then an 8:30pm start against Team Gemini.
