BLAINE, MN — After going 1-1, the Sportop Midget AA Queens met up with PPL, another Minnesota High School elite team, on Saturday morning.

Brenna Nicol put the Queens into the lead with two goals in the first period. The Midget AAs would need to kill a penalty to escape the opening frame with a 2-0 advantage. In the second, Kailey Swerhun’s goal (assisted by Darbie Mattson) would be followed by Nicol’s Hattrick Goal, as she notched her third goal of the game to put the Queens up 4-0. Goalie Mykaila George had more than enough run support but stayed perfect in net anyway, earning the shutout as late in the period, Sarah Grieve posted back-to-back goals to bring the total to 6-0. Swerhun added another goal, completing the touchdown, as the Sportop Queens rumbled to a 7-0 victory.

Sunday, the Queens face their friends from Gentry Academy at 1:00pm.

The Gridlink Midget A Queens also take on Team Colorado at 10:00am.
