Day Two of the Westfort Fall Classic

THUNDER BAY, ON — On the second day of the Westfort Fall Classic, the Strasser & Lang Peewee Queens had an afternoon game against the Current River Comets. The Comets opened the scoring in the second with a couple goals but the Queens cut the lead to one after Kingston Golding and Annie Mallon setup Makenzee Kostiuk at the end of the second. 2-1 after two. The Peewees push for the tying goal but couldn’t convert on their chances while the Comets potted an insurance goal, taking the game 3-1. At the same time, the Bantam A Queens played the Norwest Stars who didn’t fare much better losing 4-1.

The Peewee Queens had two games on this day, facing the Norwest Stars but like their Bantam A counterpart, managed a single goal, scored by Beth Gagnon, with three coming back the other way.

Over in the Atom A division, the Gridlink Atom Queens put up their sparkling record against the Westfort Maroons. Both teams went scoreless until 2:04 remaining in he second period when Siena Ricciardi scored on a setup feed from Morgan Barenz. That seemed to open the floodgates for the Queens. In the third, Danica Wilson drew assists on three straight goals, first to Vienna Minnela, then Shayla Stokaluk and lastly, Olivia Vinet to give the Atoms a 4-0 lead. Ricciardi and Barenz would combine for one more goal, this time with Siena setting up Morgan to make it a 5-0 final.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the Atom Queens have a couple game, playing host Westfort Rangers at 9:00am and then the KC Knights at 4:00pm.

In the Peewee AA division, the Peewee Queens play the KC Sabres at 9:30am and the Bantam As play twice, first against the Elks 82s at 8:00am and against Hearst at 1:15pm.
