Nicol Nets Hattrick in Win Over Ridley

WINNIPEG, MB — After going 1-1 through two, the Sportop Midget AA Queens looked to keep a winning record against Ridley College at the Junior Women’s Hockey League Weekend Invitational. Ridley opened the scoring in the first but it was met by a goal from Brenna Nicol setup by Darbie Mattson and Reese Coffey. In the second, after Ridley scored just over a minute in, Nicol would complete the hattrick scoring twice early with an unassisted goal and then another, assisted by Kendra Fortin just 89 seconds apart. And then just 2:37 after that, Fortin fired a puck past the Ridley netminder to make it 4-2. Kailey Swerhun and Sibley Duckert were both credited with assists. No more goal lights would go off in the 3rd. 4-2 final.

The Sportop Queens are back at it bright and early tomorrow morning at 8:00am against the Ottawa 67’s.
