Bantam AA Queens Capture All American Gold

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Bantam AA Queens are coming home with the Championship of the All American tournament! The Queens went undefeated (3-0) through the round robin, out-scoring opponents 11-2, and went on to win their semi-final matchup by a score of 5-1 Saturday night.

On Sunday, they had a rematch against the North Wright County Riverhawks, who they previously squeezed past by a score of 1-0. Paige Broughton opened the scoring on a rebound off a set faceoff play with assists going to Akira Tatebe and Taylor Barenz. Ella Manilla put the Bantam AAs up by 2 after banging home a Taylee Marks rebound. The stellar goaltending of the Riverhawks netminder kept the game close but Queens netminder Abby Wills, who shutout NWC earlier in the tournament, kept that streak going not allowing a single goal. Paige Broughton, who opened the scoring, then sealed the game away with an empty net insurance marker with under 2 minutes to go. Katie Lacosse drew the lone assist. 3-0 final. Queens outshot NWC 24-7.

"This was a total team effort with all players contributing and everyone buying into a defense first team philosophy" said Head Coach Dave Olenik. Indeed, the Bantam AA Queens goalie tandem of Abby Wills and Presley Brohm only surrendered a combined 3 goals against in 5 games.

Next up for the Bantam AAs is the Brampton Two Nations Prep Showcase.
