Sportop Midget AAs at 2 Nations Cup

BRAMPTON, ON — This weekend the Sportop Midget AA Queens are in Brampton, Ontario for the Two Nations Cup.

On day one, the Queens got things started against Station Six Fire from Halifax who scored the lone goal in the first period to give them a 1-0 lead. Early in the second though, the Queens tied the game on an Alexis Paddington goal (assisted by Sarah Grieve). Station Six took another one-goal lead in the period but Brenna Nicol would tie it back up three minutes later on a play setup by Kendra Fortin and Reese Coffey. 2-2 after two. In the third period, Alexis Paddington got her second goal of the game, along with Coffey and Grieve earning their second assists of the game, to take a 3-2 lead which would hold up as the game winner. 3-2 final.

The Midget AAs also had a late game at 9:45pm against the Niagara Rapids which they lost 2-1, the lone goal coming off the stick of Kailey Swerhun after a series of plays made by Sarah Grieve and Jada Leblanc. There may have been more to report but the Queens had three goals called back. Despite the Queens outshooting and feeling like they outplayed their opponents, the bounces did not go their way.

Saturday, the Queens will take on the Brantford Ice Cats at 11:15am.
