Atom Queens to play in Championship Game in Eden Prairie

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN — The Atom Queens are in Eden Prairie this weekend to take on U10-A competition in the Eden Prairie Meltdown Tournament.

On Friday, the Queens got rolling with a late game against Cottage Grove. Morgan Barenz shined with a 2-goal performance in the first. Cottage Grove spoiled Norah Traer’s shutout bid late in the game, though she did stop 16 of 17 shots. 2-1 Final.

Saturday, the Queens had a matinee date with the Apple Valley Burnsville. Neither of the first two periods yielded any goals. Finally in the third, Sienna Ricciardi would bury the first of the game on the powerplay. Traer wouldn’t be denied the shutout this time, stopping 15 of 15 in the 1-0 victory.

That evening, the Queens took on Edina, defeating them 3-2. Details to come.

With a 3-0 record, the Queens have been placed in the Championship game on Sunday at 11:00am versus the host Eden Prairie.
