Highlights from U18A Halfway Motors Queens Weekend Series

The U18A Halfway Motors Thunder Bay Queens travelled to Dryden this past weekend to compete against the U18 Dryden Eagles.  The 3-game series would see Thunder Bay travelling home with a game count of 1-1-1.

Queens were down 2-0 with the second period almost over when Rayne Bechard would throw a pass in front of the net to Grace Fitzpatrick to start the comeback.  This rallied the team to shut down Dryden’s scoring opportunities.  A second comeback goal from Paige Broughton would tie up the game.  The score would not change leaving this game ending 2-2.

Game two was the most physical game of the 3.  Goal opportunities were in abundance, but Queens would have difficulties finding the back of the net.  The short-handed lone goal by Shailyn Reguly from Paige Broughton wasn’t enough to keep the Queens in the game.  The hometown crowd Saturday night cheered Dryden Eagles to a 4-1 victory.

Game 3 would see both teams battling hard to clench the win.  With no score heading into the dressing rooms before the last period, the dressing room talk was going to be key.  Queens Caitlin Sweeney came out strong receiving a pass from Shayln Reguly to start the scoring.  A hard pass from Grace Fitzpatrick to Paige Fucile would see a second goal on the board.  The game would end 2-0 for the Queens with goaltender Alex Young taking the shutout.
