Queens A Teams have success

The U15A and Half-Way Motors U18A Thunder Bay Queens teams will look to build on their wins from Friday.
 

In Brandon, MB the U15A Queens opened up the Behlen Female Hockey Challenge Tournament with a dominant 4-0 win over the host team Brandon Wheat Kings. The relentless forecheck wore down the Wheat Kings leading to numerous scoring opportunities.  

Allie Attema had a solid performance, turning away every puck sent her way, picking up her first shut out of the season.  Goals would come from Mann, Traer and Price with a pair. 

The team will see action against Lorette Comets and Winnipeg Rockets.
 

Travelling in the other direction, the U18A team would start play Friday in the Barrie Sharkfest tournament against the host team - Barrie Sharks.  After a scoreless first period, the Queens opened the scoring with a goal from Paige Fucile assisted by Shailyn Reguly and Grace Fitzpatrick.  Barrie Sharks came back to tie the game up before the end of the second period.  Early in the third, Reguly put the Queens team up 2-1 with assists from Fucile and Alex Young.  With time running out, Barrie Sharks would pressure the Queens however, Young would shut them down and keep the game at 2-1 for the win.


In a late night game, the Queens would capture their second win against Etobicoke Dolphins.  Queens would take an early lead in the first period with a goal from Fitzpatrick with assists from Fucile and Victoria Posselwhite.  The Dolphins battle back to tie the game before the first period was done.  Halfway through the second , the Queens power play would see Reguly score one for the Queens with helpers from Fitzpatrick and Fucile.  The third period would see the Queens put another in the net on a power play from Fitzpatrick  getting the opportunity from Reguly and Fucile.  With the Dolphins in penalty trouble, Paige Broughton assisted by Kallie Hryciw, would add the third power play goal of the night and seal the Queens 4-1 victory.  Ria Slomke play a solid 3 periods in net for the win.  
Queens continue play Saturday against Haldimand Rivercats and Toronto Leaside Wildcats.
