The Thunder Bay U18AA Sportop Queens were back on the road in Duluth this weekend taking part in  the Upper Midwest High School Elite League. The league showcases teams consisting of the top players from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and North Dakota.

Friday’s game  action saw the Queens  take on the Madison Capitols.
The Queens would start the scoring at 10:02 of the first period as Akira Tatebe would bank a pass out front off of the Madison defender and past the goalie to take a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later, the lead would jump to 2-0 when Emma Firth would bury a shot under the goalie off a nifty pass from Bridget Cameron.  Assisted by Brooklyn Voortman.

The Queens would ice the game at 10:02 of the third as Bridget Cameron would score unassisted by ripping a snapshot past the Capitols net minder.
Alexandra Young would stop all 22 shots she faced including a number of breakaways to earn the shutout.
Shots on goal favoured the Queens 33-22.
