The Thunder Bay U18AA Sportop Queens are in Blaine MN this weekend taking part in the highly competitive  National Invitation Tournament.
The tournament boasts all of the top teams from all over North America participating.
Their first game today was against the Windy City Storm, formerly known as the Chicago Young Americans. The first period had a flurry of action as the two teams combined for 5 goals. Rhae Thomas would tie the game at 1-1 as she received a pass from Akira Tatebe  and broke in all alone  on a breakaway. She would be stopped on her initial shot but would bang home her own rebound. Makara Magbanua would add the other assist on the play. The storm would quickly take a one goal lead again before Bridget Cameron would tie it at 2-2 with a low shot from the corner that would beat the goalie through the legs.
The Storm  would score once more before the end of the first period to take a  3-2 lead after one.
The teams would exchange chances over the next two periods and the Queens would have multiple flurries of great scoring chances to tie the game but couldn’t  beat the Storm goalie.
Windy City would add a late power play goal to make the final 4-2.
Shots on goal favoured the Queens 37-24.
Alex Young suffered the loss in goal.
