Sportop Queens edged 2-1 in a shootout in Stoney Creek Showcase semifinal
HAMILTON – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens dropped a narrow 2-1 decision, in a shootout, to the Shaftesbury Titans Sunday in semifinal action at the Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase tournament in Hamilton.
Kaley Tienhaara had the lone tally for the Queens with Montana Russo and Farrah Nicholl picking up assists.
Madison Martin had the marker for the Titans, who went on to come out on top in the shootout.
Thunder Bay outshot the Shaftesbury 26-13 in regulation and overtime with Jayde Turcotte suffering the setback in net.Tori Micklash registered the triumph for the Winnipeg-based prep school.
The Queens next tournament will be the 2 Nations Tier 1 Elite Showcase, Sept. 26-28, in Exeter, New Hampshire.
