Sportop Queens gear up for Thoroughbreds Thanksgiving tourney
THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens are off to St. Paul, Minn., this weekend to compete in the annual Minnesota Thoroughbreds Thanksgiving tournament.
The Queens take to the ice Friday at 9:50 p.m. when they take on Team Alaska.
Game 2 of the tourney for Thunder Bay goes Saturday at 11:50 a.m. vs. the Peace Country Storm of Alberta.
That contest will be followed by another later in the day when they face-off against the Yellowhead Chiefs from Manitoba.
Medal round and consolation games will be played Sunday.
A total of 16 of the top female midget hockey programs across Canada and the U.S. will be competing for the title in the three-day event.
