Queens announce 1st half CCM Performer Awards

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Queens, in conjunction with CCM Hockey, announced Wednesday their first half performer awards for the 2015-16 season.

One player from each of the five Queens’ team was recognized for their contributions to their respective clubs as well as their on-ice success.

Similar honours will also be presented for the second half of the campaign as well.

The following are the initial CCM Hockey performer awards, by team:

PEEWEE: Alexis Paddington, Forward – The second-year skaters is currently leading the peewees in offensive production.

Paddington also possesses a passion for the game and a work ethic that sets her apart.

TIM HORTONS BANTAM A: Taylor Armstrong, Forward – Armstrong has consistently been one of the top performers on the team.  

She is one of the leaders in goals and points and is a tireless worker.

RBC DOMINION SECURITIES BANTAM AA:  Molly Kunnas, Forward – A second-year players with the Bantam AA’s, Kunnas is currently having a breakout season.

The Westgate High School Grade 9 student is leading her squad in goals and points alike with 22 and 33 respectively,

Her success can be attributed to her hard work both on and off the ice.

GOLDCORP MIDGET A: Ellen Svane, Defence – A first-year midget player, Svane has been one of the most versatile members of the team, having played both defence and forward this season.  

She also maintains Honour Roll standing at Westgate while also participating in other high school sports.

SPORTOP MIDGET AA: Emily Varrin, Forward – The 16-year-old forward is in her second year with the Midget AA Program.

This season Varrin sits second on the Midget AA Queens in tallies and first in assists while lead her team in points.  

She also takes great pride in her defensive side of the game too as a key penalty killer for her team.
