BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thunder Bay Tim Hortons bantam A Queens dropped both of their contests Saturday at the Harbor Center Cup Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y.

They began with a 4-0 setback vs. the Rochester Edge before dropping a narrow 2-1 decision to the Kensington Valley Ravens later in the day.

In the match-up with Rochester, the Edge opened the scoring five minutes into the contest, added another midway through the second and supplied a pair of early tallies in the third to earn the win.

The Queens were outshot 22-15 with Mya Gowanlock suffering the setback.

Against Kensington Valley, the Michigan-based Ravens struck twice in the first minute of the game to grab a lead they would not relinquish.

Sibley Duckert got one back at 9:58 of the second with Meadow Quachegan and Grace Power drawing assists on the goal.

Gowanlock faced 12 attempts in defeat for Thunder Bay.

Meanwhile in Winnipeg Saturday, the Sportop midget AA Queens saw an unfortunate bounce deflect off the skate of a defender and in for the game-winner in the third period as they fell 2-1 to the St. Mary’s Academy Flames.

Kaylee Grosjean and Karadyn Kiviaho combined to set-up Emilie Varrin to give the midget AA side an early lead.

St. Mary’s would tie it later in the frame then notch the difference maker in the third in the hard-fought battle with the Flames.

Aden Johnson was it net for Thunder Bay in defeat.

The Queens conclude their trip to the Manitoba capital Sunday as they meet St. Mary’s once again at 10:40 a.m.
