Queens blanked in All-American finales

BLAINE, Minn. – The two Thunder Bay Queens teams competing at the 24th annual All-American Girls tournament in Blaine, Minn., wrapped up play Sunday by being blanked by their respective opponents in a pair of narrow decisions.

The Tim Hortons bantam A side fell 1-0 to the Interlake Lightning of Manitoba while the peewee Queens lost 2-0 to the Fort Lake Rangers on Minnesota.

In the bantam A contest, the lone goal of the game came 3:42 into the second period thanks to Megan Humeniuk.

The Lightning outshot Thunder Bay 20-11 with Jaylynn Miller posting the shutout with Marissa Brosseau suffering the defeat.

In the peewee match-up, Doneele Decker turned aside all 19 attempts she faced to blank the Queens.

Hannah Melander in the first and Samantha Hayek in the second stanza tallied for Forest Lake.

Mykaila George faced 18 shots in the setback for Thunder Bay.
