Bantam AA Queens start 1-1 in Edina
EDINA, Minn. – The Thunder Bay bantam AA Queens are off to a 1-1 start at the 12th annual Tradition Cake Eater Classic tournament in Edina, Minn., after picking up a win and a loss in Day 1 play Friday.
Thunder Bay began with a narrow 2-0 setback vs. the host Edina Green, who are the top-ranked under-15 team in Minnesota at the moment, before rebounding with a 3-2 victory over the Madison Capitols.
Lindsay Humeniuk kept the Queens in the contest with Edina as she stopped 33 shots in the setback.
Vivian Jungels scored both goals for her side while on the power play.
Against Madison, Sydney White set-up Brenna Nicol to open the scoring for Thunder Bay.
Nicol followed that up with another marker while the Queens were up a skater before Alexis Paddington notched the game-winner in the third.
Camryn Williams earned the win in net for Thunder Bay.
The Queens wrap-up round robin play Saturday with a 4:15 p.m. match-up against the Hastings Raiders.
