Johnson posts shutout for Sportop Queens in 2 Nations College Prep opener

BRAMPTON, Ont. – Goaltender Aden Johnson turned in a solid performance in net stopping all 17 shots she faced to backstop the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens to a narrow 1-0 shutout victory over Team Illinois Friday morning in the club’s 2 Nations College Prep Series opener in Brampton, Ont.

After a scoreless opening period, Thunder Bay got the game-winner in the second stanza courtesy of Amanda Pages as she finished off a feed from Tia Lampo.

Johnson did the rest keeping Illinois off the scoresheet throughout to post the win.

With the result, the Queens improved to 5-1 in 2 Nations College Prep Series play on the season.

Thunder Bay returns to the ice tonight at 9:15 p.m. when they take on the Peterborough Ice Kats.

The Queens also have two games on the slate Saturday beginning with a 12:15 p.m. match-up vs. the Chicago Young Americans before wrapping up the round robin at 6:30 p.m. against the Cambridge Roadrunners.
