Gridlink Queens Battle in Edina

EDINA, MN – The Gridlink Atom Queens found excellent competition which yielded mixed results at this past weekend’s Cake Eater Classic in Edina, Minnesota. Thunder Bay went winless on day one of the tournament getting shutout 2-0 against Spring Lake Park but would come up with a tie in game two as Orono Westonka would match the two goals put up by Queens forwards Keira Stokaluk and Kingston Golding.

On Saturday, Thunder Bay would put up their first “W” of the tournament against Stillwater. Stokaluk’s lone goal in the first period gave the Queens a 1-0 lead all the way into the third period. Makenzee Kostiuk would extend the lead midway through the final period. From there, each team exchanged a couple goals with Golding scoring and Ella Favot notching a late period goal as the Grid Link Queens skated to a 4-2 victory.

Their 1-1-1 result would match the Queens up against Minnetonka Sunday morning. Stokaluk again opened the scoring for the Queens for the third straight game but two goals for Minnetonka in the second would be the difference in a 2-1 loss.
