Queens Teams Find Excellent Competition at Norwest

THUNDER BAY, ON — The Thunder Bay Queens are represented in this weekend’s Norwest Tournament by their Peewee and Bantam A squads who are both competing in the Peewee AA division.

The Peewee Queens got the tournament started defeating the KC Sabres 4-3 on Friday morning. Jenna Jackson scored the game winning goal while goalie Mia Attema picked up the win. In their afternoon stint the Peewees would drop a 4-1 decision to the Westfort Rangers.

Meanwhile the Bantam A Queens toughed out a hard fought loss to the Neebing Hawks. Sidney Hiscox would tie the 1-1 game with 1:32 left in the game but Neebing would go back ahead with just 22 second remaining. The Bantam As then suffered their second straight 2-1 loss at the hands of the Fort Frances Leafs (another girls Bantam team).

Looking ahead to Saturday, the Peewees will play the Fort Frances Canadiens at 12:30pm and the Norwest Stars at 6:30 that evening while the Bantam A’s get their afternoon started against the Current River Comets before facing the Elks 82s at 5:45pm.
