Alexis Paddington Commits to Minnesota State

THUNDER BAY, ON — The Thunder Bay Queens would like to congratulate MAA forward Alexis Paddington on her commitment to play Division 1 hockey with the Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks.

The two time Queens MVP and two time Most Valuable Offensive Player was garnering attention from multiple schools, but when asked why she chose Minnesota State, Alexis said that it felt ‘warm and comfortable right away.’

The Mavericks play in the powerhouse WCHA and are located in Mankato, classic small town Minnesota just south of Minneapolis.  Having spent a great deal of time competing in Minnesota over the past years, it was a good fit for Alexis. “I like that the campus is close to home, but not too close” she said with a smile.  “The facilities at the school were beautiful.  But what really caught my attention was that the players obviously seemed like a very close group and obviously really liked and respected their coaches.”

Alexis will continue to pursue her dream of being a multi-sport athlete at the university level.  She indicated that she will continue to advance her tennis career at the post-secondary level.  With the support of Mavericks Women’s Hockey Head Coach John Harrington, the two time defending Mid Canada Open U18 Champion hopes to pursue a Division II tennis opportunity at Mankato as well.

In her Instagram release, Alexis thanked her family and friends for all of their support.  “The help and support I have received from my coaches and teammates as well as my family and friends has been invaluable.  I have been very fortunate to have a lot of really great people in my corner.”
