Bantam A Queens Compete in The Neebs
THUNDER BAY, ON — The Bantam A Queens opened up the Neebing Tournament, in which they’re competing in the Peewee AA division, against the host Neebing Hawks. Neebing jumped out to a quick start on the backs of a couple goals from Maccus Kuokkanen and another from Andrew Bragnalo. Siobean McLaren would setup Grace Fitzpatrick for a goal to respond and cut the lead to 3-1 but Bragnalo would get his 2nd of the game for Neebing and Aden Kristjanson would add another as the Queens fell in defeat 5-1 to the Hawks.
Late Friday evening, the Queens looked to get back in the “W” column taking on Hearst HLK. After a scoreless first, Hearst would take a 2-0 lead but the Queens would quickly respond within a minute of Hearst’s goal as Fitzpatrick would notch her 2nd of the tournament to cut the deficit to one as the second period drew to a close. In the third, Jenna Mazan would tie the game for the Queens. Hearst would again take the lead with 3:02 left in the third, however. With time winding down and a second straight loss looming, Kallie Hryciw would get the puck to Cayla Wesley who’d score in the final minute the preserve a tie! 3-3 final.
Saturday the Queens will finish the round robin against the Westfort Rangers before playoff rounds begin.
