Dorey Finding Open Teammates in White Bear Lake

WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN — The Gridlink Atom Queens are in White Bear Lake, Minnesota to compete in the Moose Goheen tournament in the 10U A Division. The tournament is a 3-game guarantee bracket format so to win the championship, there is zero room for error.

Friday night, the Gridlink Queens met their first round opponent: Mahtomedi. The first period went scoreless but the Queens outshot Mahtomedi 5-1. In the second period, Mahtomedi would reverse the pressure, outshooting the Queens 5-2 but Grace Dorey's play to Morgan Barenz would setup the first goal of the game. 1-0 Thunder Bay after two. Early in the third Mahtomedi would tie the game up but just 11 seconds later Dorey would setup Olivia Vinet for the go ahead goal. Dorey would later get the “Assist Trick” getting her third assist setting up Vinet again. Netminder Allie Attema blocked everything else Mahtomedi threw at her to hang onto the 3-1 victory.

The Queens will take on the winner of Owatonna and the Riverhawks who play Saturday morning.
