Atom Queens Remain Undefeated in White Bear Lake

WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN — Coming off a win in the first round, the Gridlink Atom Queens looked to reach the Championship finals of the Moose Goheen tournament 10U A division with on Saturday against Owatonna.

Sophia Campagna would get the Queens off on the right track, taking a feed from Ava Hrubeniuk and scoring to put her team ahead. CampagnaHrubeniuk and Grace Doreywould all be stopped on breakaways. Queens goalie Brylee Illson went save for save as well, keeping Owatonna off the scoreboard, with some help from Kayla Grant who stopped a “Grade A” scoring chance on the penalty kill. 

In the third, Campagna would look to extend the but shoot the puck wide of the net. Hrubeniuk, though, would recover the puck off the back wall and centre the puck to Vienna Minnella who wouldn’t miss the net, scoring and giving the Queens a 2-0 lead. Illson maintained perfection, shutting out Owatonna. 2-0 in the game, 2-0 in the tournament and a birth in the Championship final against the St. Paul Capitals on Sunday at 3:30pm Central Time.
