Elks Santa Claus Showdown Wrap-up

THUNDER BAY, ON — Sunday marked the final day of the Elks Santa Claus Showdown. The Peewee Queens took on the “Angry Elks” (a “Selects” team made up of the Elks’ two Peewee A teams), in a consolation game. Kingston Golding and Brynn Hannula scored in the first while the Angry Elks’ Cole Swalwell scored late in the period to make it a 2-1 game. It’d be all Queens after that as Hannula would score her second of the game and Rhae Thomas would add two goals in a 5-1 final.

Over in the Consolation Championship, the Bantam A Queens faced the Peewee AA Westfort Rangers. Westfort’s Brennan Rissanen would score early into the game and Nicholas Silvaggio added to the lead but Grace Fitzpatrick answered back 16 seconds later to cut the lead to one. The Rangers extended their lead in the second on a pair of goals from Daniel Lombardo. Matthew Bertolin added a goal for Westfort in the third, Fitzpatrick got a late goal as the Bantam As dropped the 5-2 decision.
