Atom Queens Win Gold in White Bear Lake!

WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN — Sunday afternoon marked the Championship game between the Atom Queens and St. Paul Capitals at the Moose Goheen tournament in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. In the “must win” 3-game bracket, Thunder Bay and St. Paul were the only undefeated teams up to this point.

The Queens struck early on goal from Morgan Barenz. Queens goalies Allie Attema and Brylee Illson split duties is this game as Attema started and Illson relieved late in the second. The pair would shutout St. Paul almost through two periods but the Capitals scored with just 4 seconds left. In the third, neither team would manage to score leading to overtime. The Queens were dominant in OT not allowing St. Paul many looks and with 33 seconds left in over-time Maddy Arthur would get to play the role of hero, scoring the game winning- and tournament winning-goal!
