Bantam As Take Silver in Chippewa Falls

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI — Their 1-0-1 start in the Chippewa Falls’ U14 Tournament was enough for the Bantam A Queens to find themselves in the semifinals, playing against host Chippewa Valley ThunderCats. Early in the first Jenna Jackson would get setup by Shailyn Reguly and score to open the game. Nearing the end of the opening frame Cayla Wesley would score to open the lead to two. Kallie Hryciw and Paige Fucile drew assists on the play.

In the second, the Fucile’s line would score again as she’d put Thunder Bay up a commanding 3-0, with Hryciw and Wesley assisting on the play this time. Chippewa Valley struck back with a goal of their own but not to be outdone, the Queens scored two more as Chloe Allam setup Lindsey Kubenic who’d notch the Queens’ 4th goal and Fucile scored again. 5-1 after two.

The combination that got the goals started, Jackson from Reguly would open the scoring early into the third. The ThunderCats would get one back but the Bantam As responded when Kaitlin Whatley setup Jackson for her hat trick goal and Grace Fitzpatrick feed Reguly a pass as she’d score, completing a 3-point game for herself.

The Queens skated to a 8-2 victory, outshooting Chippewa Valley 35-21, and earning a spot in the Championship game against Wayzata, who the Queens had tied the day before 2-2.

The Championship game went scoreless through the first period and nearly the second but Wayzata would score with 1:14 remaining to take a 1-0 lead. The Queens couldn’t muster a comeback goal while Wayzata managed three, taking the game 4-0.

For the Bantam A Queens, they take home the Silver after a 2-1-1 record.
