Sportop Midget AAs Go 1-1 on Day 2 in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, MB — The Sportop Midget AA Queens looked to stay undefeated on day two of the Female World Sport School Challenge as they took on the Pilot Mound Buffalos. A single goal was scored in the first two periods by Pilot Mound but in the third period, the floodgates opened as both teams combined for six goals started by the Queens taking the lead on goals from Brenna Nicol and Kendra Fortin. The Buffalos would tie the game back up shortly after but the Queens answered back on a goal from Alexis PaddingtonPaddington would score an emptynetter to give the Queens a 4-2 lead but just when things looked safe, Pilot Mound responded with a goal with 1:37 remaining. It’d be as close as they’d come however as the Midget AAs skated to a 4-3 victory.

Now 2-0-0, the Queens took on the Lloydminster Steelers. Unfortunately, the girls couldn’t manage a goal in the game while the Steelers were successful on three powerplays, taking a 3-0 win.

Sunday’s playoff schedule is still being determined. Head to http://www.fwssc.ca/schedule/ for the latest.
